OK, I am exploring ways to present my blog. I ultimately want to make a photo book of this whole thing, so now I am rethinking how I present appearance, thoughts, info, pics, etc. The idea of video and commentary needs to be contemplated...this may even be removed, as I am thinking out loud right now, not necessary for photo book:)!
Anyway, I frequently think I need to document all the funny things that are going on, as they are going on. I am never going to do it all, so just a few for today.
-We were watching Elmo, and the scene is Elmo riding in the park, and his dad giving him helpful instruction. Carter says, "Mom, that is Elmo's Dad. He kind of looks like our Dad." Would have loved for you to see the look Ally gave me upon hearing this!
-On the way to the GP the other day, Abby says, "Mom, who is in charge of the GP?" I respond about the director, etc. "Mom, who is in charge of the church?" I say, " Pastor Steve, and I think some other guy named Braden keeps track of the money and the bookkeeping."
Carter chimes in (He is known for this), "So he likes keeps the bad guys away from the bibles?" "So they don't like steal them or anything!"
My Night time routine....
I am a lucky girl, as Ken is almost always involved in putting the kids to bed. He was out of town last night for work, but it is a rare occasion that he is not helping.
-We all go up stairs to pee, get in jammies, and brush teeth.
-All the kids share a bathroom, not sure this will work when they are teenagers!??
-99% of the time Carter stinks up the bathroom, and then proceeds to brush his teeth naked...somehow..no one seems to mind.
-I take Colin to his room to read books in his room. Colin is very particular about what books he will allow. If you present a book he is not in favor of, he will swat at it and cover his eyes.
-I read him his books, then do his "time for night night, time for sleepy song" Last is singing Jesus Loves Coli this I know. Then to bed!
Poor Colin has had some much trouble with acid reflux. He still struggles with it and takes meds everynight. Ally does too. She takes meds daily as well.
-Carter is currently Daddy's boy. Ken typically puts him to bed. Ken has spent hours reading books to Cart. However, after Ken reads and sings to him, Cart asks if Dad can leave the door open til Mom is done putting Colin to bed. During this time Ken usually goes into the girls' room to say goodnight, and then I close Colin's door and go to Carter's room to talk about out next day and pray.
-Typically Abby and Ally are the last to be put to bed. I usually go in at the end and love on them and pray with them. Honestly, I wish I could spend more time with them at night, but by the time we have had all kids pottied, teeth brushed, in their rooms, Colin read too, Cart read too, and girls put to bed, it has been an hour process and MOM is TIRED...and still has to do the dishes from dinner, laundry for 6 people, and get organized for the next day. WOW! I am so thankful for my mom when I look at my schedule. Moms really do put up the ultimate sacrafice.
So this is for you A & A....when you grow up and are moms and have kids. It is hard. It is a LOT of work. You want to do it all, but can't. You feel guilty all the time. I love my time with you all. I am sad thinking about when you girls will go back to school this year. I love having you two around. You girls do fight, which makes mom sad:(, but you get along for the most part. You girls are best friends. I look at you two and wish I had a sister.
